I’ve Got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart!
If this doesn’t get that darn song stuck in your head or you don’t know what I’m talking about- you must have missed 90s Sunday school! 😉
Here are the lyrics in case you don’t know:
I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy
Down in my heart (where?)
Down in my heart (where?)
Down in my heart
I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy
Down in my heart (where?)
Down in my heart to stay
Yup, that’s it. Over and over again!!
Seriously though, this song has lasted generations for a reason! It’s simple, fun, and true! The bible is fuuuuull of proverbs, songs, and stories of what true joy is in Christ. This song reminds me the most of Proverbs 17:22, it reads, “a happy heart is good medicine and a joyful mind causes healing, But a broken spirit dries up the bones.”
There’s nothing more life-giving for our babies than to see, experience, and feel joy! I want to teach my children that joy isn’t based on circumstance or the lack of problems, it’s based on the fact that you are loved, cared for, and being taken care of by Jesus!
If you’re a Mom or not, this is sooo life-changing to know. Joy is different than happiness. Joy is eternal and not based on anything but the peace and comfort we have knowing that God’s in control. Happiness fleets and fades at every hiccup.
Here are some simple ways to stay JOYFUL:
- Read and memorize God’s word. Trust He’s in control!
- Joy is a choice! Start making a conscious choice to stay peaceful and confident no matter that situation (toddler tantrums and all!)
- Put your little one in this precious t-shirt to remind your family!
