Mama, did you know that God hand-picked you to be your baby’s mom? You’re created to be the person to teach them right from wrong, black from white, good from bad. God gave you specific talents and experiences to help you be the best Mama. He gave you a book full of examples and stories called the Bible to encourage and help you!
It’s easy to sit back and let the world raise our babies because we’re already handling so much. We’re encouraging you to be intentional about speaking life into your children and paying attention to what’s influencing them. We’re encouraging you to be purposeful in raising your babies in this increasingly selfish, scary, and angry world. We know it can be daunting! God calls us to be counter culture and not to conform to the world around us. It’s not easy preparing our children to become committed Christ followers. We’ve come up with some ways you can start raising your child intentionally today!
Pray Over Your Child
This is at the top of the list for a reason, we believe the power of prayer is so important to know as a Mama. When you’re having a rough day with your babies, and they won’t stop crying and you’re not sure what to do- PRAY! When they’re scared about their future- PRAY! Take intentional time in the mornings to pray blessings and protection over their day.
Here’s an example of a morning prayer:
“Lord, thank you for making me a Mama. I’m so thankful even in the hard moments! Would you please watch over my babies today? Would you protect them from the evilness of the world and give them a desire for goodness? I pray that you bless my children greatly- that you fill them with joy and keep them safe. I pray that they grow to understand and love You. Thank you for always keeping your promises to us and giving me children to raise. Would you please give me strength and wisdom to be the best mom? I love you, God. Amen.”
Get Connected in a Local Church
You weren’t meant to do this alone. The church was created to be a place where people can gather, learn, get help, find encouragement, and more! The local church is a great resource to moms who are seeking to raise their child intentionally. Moms groups, children’s bible study, Sunday church- it’s all waiting for you to join. Community with the vision as you is the best way to stay on track. We’re encouraging you to join any Christian church and get plugged in. It’s as easy as googling a church time and showing up!
Speak Life Over Your Child
This might sound weird if you’re unfamiliar. We’re not saying to stand over your child and start talking. We’re saying to speak of positivity, hope, joy, peace, patience, and love to your child. To make a statement about them and their future that compliments who they are while showing them who they can be. In Proverbs 18:21 it says, “The tongue has the power of life and death.” Is what we’re saying about, to, and over our children giving them life? Raising them up? Making them feel good? Or are we tearing them down and causing insecurity?
Here’s some examples of how to speak life:
“You will be so successful when you’re older!”
“ You are a child of God and He has a purpose and plan for your life!”
“You are kind, smart, and beautiful! I’m so blessed to be your Mama!”
“God created you so specially, there is no one like you.”
Spend Quality Time with Your Child
When children feel safe, special, and secure, they thrive! Take the time to turn off the news and spend quality time with your child. Whether it’s taking a walk, playing barbies, or doing crafts, create an intentional one-on-one space to show your child they’re worth your time and energy. Watch them bloom!
Memorize Scripture and Read Bible Stories
Having your children get familiar with the Bible at a young age makes it not seem so intimidating when they grow up. Surrounding them with life-giving scriptures and Bible stories fill their brains with hope, encouragement, and trust. It’s as easy as saying a verse together on the way to school and ending the day with a read out loud story time.
Here’s some examples of good scripture to memorize:
Psalms 56:3 “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Phillipians 4:13 “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
Psalms 107:1 “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
Psalms 139:14 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
